SUMMARY:
The Sexual Adjustment Inventory (SAI) is designed to identify sexually deviate and paraphiliac behavior in people accused or convicted of sexual offenses. The SAI has 214 items, can be completed in 45 minutes and contains thirteen (13) scales.
The thirteen SAI-J measures (scales) are: (1) Test Item Truthfulness Scale: Measures how truthful the client was while answering non-sex related test items. Identifies defensiveness, resistance and faking; (2) Sex Item Truthfulness Scale: Measures how truthful the client was while answering obvious sex-related questions. Identifies truthfulness while answering items with an obvious sexual connotation or relationship; (3) Sexual Adjustment Scale: Measures sexual adjustment and reflects the client's sexual satisfaction or dissatisfaction; (4) Child Molest Scale: Measures pedophilia or a juvenile's sexual attraction to children. Helpful in assessing child molest behavior; (5) Sexual Assault Scale: Measures a juvenile's propensity for rape, sexual assault or intercourse over the objections of the victim; (6) Exhibitionism Scale: Measures a juvenile's need to expose one's sex organs to unsuspecting individuals; (7) Incest Scale: Measures incestuous behavior, i.e., having sexual relations with a family member; (8) Alcohol Scale: Measures client alcohol proneness and alcohol-related problems; (9) Drugs Scale: Measures illicit drug use and drug-related problems. Drugs refer to marijuana, cocaine, crack, amphetamines, barbiturates and heroin; (10) Violence Scale: Measures the client's use of physical force to injure, damage or destroy. It identifies clients that are dangerous to themselves or others; (11) Antisocial Scale: Measures anti-social behavior, such as chronic lying, irresponsibleness, impaired relationships, lack of remorse, regret and emotional blunting; (12) Distress Scale: Distress (anxiety and depression) represents the major reason people seek help or counseling; and (13) Judgment Scale: This scale incorporates both understanding and judgment.
These thirteen measures or scales are important treatment, recovery and relapse measures often missed by other assessment procedures. (Risk & Needs Assessment, Inc. Catalog Description)
