Data Access and Research Transparency

Dr. George Alter, Director, Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research and Professor of History, University of Michigan
As director of ICPSR, Dr. Alter is active in promoting research transparency, especially by bringing journal editors together to ensure replication of data used in journal-published articles. Dr. Alter's research expertise is in historical demography and economic history. Recent work explores demographic responses to economic hardship in Europe and East Asia, and the effects of childhood experiences on health in old age.
