In the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, territories with formal Indigenous stewardship experience a 0.77% annual increase in forest cover. This is according to a study published in PNAS Nexus, co-authored by Bárbara Nascimento Flores, a post-doc at IBS and the first of her people, the Borum-Kren, to attend university. Flores’ research focuses on the integration of Indigenous perspectives into broader scientific and environmental conversations. Read more about her research by Ana Bottallo from Folha De S.Paulo.
