Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), like the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) play a critical role in brokering peace agreements in developing world conflicts. This is according to recent research co-authored by IBS Fellow and Professor of political science at CU Boulder, Jaroslav Tir. Tir discusses his research, “Civil War Mediation in the Shadow of IGOs: the Path to Comprehensive Peace Agreements” with the CU Boulder Arts & Sciences Magazine. His research was published in the Journal of Peace Research a few months ago.
