E&S/CGNR Lecture: Bárbara Nascimento Flores

April 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Dr. Barbara Nascimento Flores

The IBS Environment and Society Program and Center for the Governance of Natural Resources are thrilled to host a lecture by Dr. Bárbara Nascimento Flores on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 at 1:00 pm in IBS 155A entitled: Restoration of Biocultural Memory as a Strategy for Indigenous Territorial Recognition. Dr. Flores will discuss her people, the Borum-Kren—formerly considered “extinct” in Brazil—and how she and other activists are working for cultural and territorial recognition using historical land management practices that promote biodiversity in the Atlantic Forest region of Brazil.

We are honored to have Dr. Flores here with us at CU through mid-Fall 2025. It is also important to note that Dr. Flores is the only Indigenous scholar out of 86 women chosen for a prestigious Brazilian government STEM program. Come to hear about her work and to welcome her to our CU community! Please spread the word about this talk too!
