Brief Biography
Aine Santala is a PhD student in the Political Science Department studying Public Policy and Comparative Politics. She earned her BA in Environmental Science & Policy at Duke University, and served as a Hart Leadership Fellow studying food sovereignty and human rights abuses in Costa Rica. Aine returned to academia in 2023 after working for several years with non-profits and brands on regenerative agriculture initiatives, corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investments. Her research today focuses on issues related to environmental justice, political ecology, Indigenous rights, and land management.
