Brief Biography

Arup Ratan Paul is a PhD student in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. He earned his MA in Sociology from Texas Tech University, where his thesis focused on the vulnerabilities of climate-sensitive livelihoods among coastal communities in Bangladesh. Prior to that, he completed both his undergraduate and first MA in Sociology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh.

Arup has a strong preference for quantitative-dominant mixed-methods research but also has hands-on experience conducting qualitative fieldwork in the challenging coastal regions of Bangladesh. His current research interests lie in environmental health, health geography, climate change and migration, and disasters. He is keen to develop his expertise in data analysis using GIS tools, while integrating sociological insights into his work.
