Brief Biography
My name is Joey and I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science. My research focuses on political participation in the form of protest throughout Latin America, with an emphasis on how protest dynamics are impacted by non-state actors. These actors range from ordinary citizens to organized crime groups. I am also interested in exploring how queer politics manifests and unfolds throughout Latin America, despite many of our preconceptions with regards to more conservative and religious nations.
