Brief Biography
Prior to returning to academia, Juan graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia with a Masters in Occupational Therapy and has worked as an occupational therapist for 10 years in the Seattle and Boulder area hospitals. Juan has primarily worked in the acute care setting with a variety of adult populations, but focuses on neurological/stroke and cognitive rehabilitation. Juan’s shift to social science research was driven by wanting to understand how social systems shape occupational performance, in particular how migration policies affect both individual and community occupational satisfaction.
